It is indeed an honour for India to host the 3rd WPC-Petrotech Youth Forum in Delhi as a tribute to our burgeoning youth population. ‘Young India’ has begun establishing its presence on the corporate landscape by infusing new ideas and fresh energy. It has been the endeavour of Corporate India to harness this wealth of human resources and provide opportunities for their growth. It is imperative that world class management practices are followed and challenging assignments are created to captivate interest.
The Oil Industry, in particular, has done a lot to implement best-in-class practices in every activity. Leveraging technology to advantage, the state-of-the-art Refineries advocate continuous improvement, innovations abound in Marketing, driving the aspirations of customers, Research & Development efforts have enhanced the quality of products and services and integrated IT solutions are the hallmark of all the oil companies. Gas too has started replacing liquid fuels to open new avenues in the Industry. Alternate sources of energy provide a vista of exciting opportunities in this sector.
The Oil Industry in India has become a show window for the outstanding economic growth that India has shown, as it charters its path to become one of the key players in the world economy. It will truly be an exhilarating experience to be part of this Industry and fuel the country’s growth in this critical phase.
I would like to extend my best wishes to all the participants of the WPC-Petrotech Youth Forum, who have gathered from all over the world. I urge you to use this event as a stepping stone to a successful career in the Oil Industry, where you can embark on a voyage, teeming with challenges and discoveries and also enjoying the satisfaction of energising the life of every Indian in some way or the other.

Message from Chairman, Steering Committee, Petrotech-2010
The asymmetric occurrence of petroleum resources and its uneven consumption pattern over the world has probably been the single most influential factor for growth of economies as well as geopolitics over the last century. Much of the reasons associated with the Global Warming have also been attributed to this industry that has brought, at the same time, speed and modernization to the civilization. Such contradictory attributes of this prolific industry calls for a concerted focus on ‘Global Energy Equilibrium’, which is the Theme of Petrotech-2010, the 9th International Oil and Gas Conference & Exhibition, being organized by ONGC in New Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, during 31st October – 3rd November 2010.
Growth of economies is vitally dependent on another resource – ‘Youth’, which is also logically the largest stakeholder for the future. The series of WPC Youth Forums intend to bring together the two vital resources, Petroleum and Youth, needed to fuel the progress of humanity.
The first two WPC Youth Forums were held in Beijing (2005) and Paris (2009). The 3rd WPC Youth Forum is being organized on 2nd November 2010 at New Delhi, on the sidelines of Petrotech-2010.
This Youth Forum event is to encourage young generation to take interest in the important subject of Oil & Gas, and enlist their active involvement in furthering the development of this petroleum industry; which is emerging as one of the most crucial concerns for both developed and developing economies.
One of the major objectives of this Youth Forum is to promote interaction with the young professionals and students interested in the global oil industry, through various web-based activities including on-line competitions. To enable this, the website www.fueltheyouth.com has been launched in August 2010 and is accessible across the globe.
I believe this is one of the best opportunities for young oil professionals of various corporates as well as students to engage in this vital economic sphere, and dabble as young oil professionals. This will also be a global platform to get networked with the best-in-class in the industry, as Petrotech-2010 and WPC Youth Forum will offer the best of international subject experts to interact. Our endeavour is to fuel the cause of crafting a leadership pipeline for young professionals and students, and impart a broader skill-set beyond the limits of text curriculum and individual oil companies, by facilitating an enriched global interaction.
I call upon the young professionals and students to log on to the website and participate in the on-line competitions, and also attend the Forum in the Indian capital city of New Delhi; I can assure of an exciting exposure of the global oil industry.
With best wishes

It gives me immense pleasure to invite you to this young yet a very prestigious event: 3rd WPC Youth Forum titled "FuEL" the Youth: Future Energy Leaders.
The Youth Forum is topically relevant in the fast changing world economy where energy is the most critical factor. There is an inherent need to meet the energy requirements of today and tomorrow. Besides, there are several issues plaguing the energy sector which need to be addressed from an altogether different perspective and a lot of challenges to overcome. The days of “easy oil” are over, we are now moving into frontier areas & deep oceans to fuel the future. Peak production from our existing reserves will be in the years 2020 to 2030 and decline sharply thereafter. Where are we heading for and what lies beyond 2030?
We can not expect to have unique solution for these problems which are so intricately linked and need global co-operation. With this comes the need for dynamic leaders who can take initiatives, think from different perspectives, are able to work in harmony with different people, with different cultures, and above all possess the vision to see the unseen.
As we seek solutions for our future energy needs, we also need to tap this huge reservoir of potential - The Youth. We are now looking at young professionals across the world to come together and seek amicably the path for future's energy picture. The WPC event aims to utilize youth potential to usher in new innovative ideas, share youth perspective on issues of bringing equality and diversity in our workforce, improving the industry's image to ensure an ethical and sustainable future with an eye toward helping them become efficient Future Energy Leaders.
